Oakley Weddle, OwneR/Account Manager
Oakley is a born-and-raised Memphian. He is pursuing a Master of Arts degree program within the Department of Journalism and Strategic Media at the University of Memphis. This past August, he earned his undergraduate degree in public relations with minors in marketing management and social media and was named the College of Communication student marshall, an honor reserved for the graduating student with the highest GPA in the college. He earned several other distinctions from his college, including “outstanding public relations student,” “excellence in visual public relations,” and “rookie of the year.” Now as a master's degree candidate, Oakley divides his time between student teaching, mentoring younger PR students, and researching his graduate thesis, which focuses on the role social media and journalism play in reforming criminal justice outcomes. He is currently the president of several UofM student organizations, including the Public Relations Student Society of America and the department’s Graduate Student Association. He most recently won a Presidential Award for Oustanding Graduate Student Researcher - Master's. This is awarded to a student that exemplifies a high level of quality research in their graduate program.
Professionally, Oakley has accumulated robust experience. Since 2019, he has served as the marketing manager for ProTech Services Group Inc., the largest IT business in Memphis. In his role, he has refined the organization's image and language, developed educational seminars, forged strategic partnerships with like-minded businesses for co-marketing opportunities, and executed a yearlong campaign to celebrate the organization’s 30th anniversary. Simultaneously, Oakley owns and operates his own independent PR consulting firm, Jubilant Communications. As the firm’s owner, Oakley has managed a team of three independent PR contractors to provide varied marketing, communication and PR services to a roster of clients across the country.
Oakley parlays his life story, personal interests and professional experience into his philanthropic and community-focused efforts. After losing his brother, Peyton, earlier in his childhood, Oakley and his family founded The PEYitforward Foundation, of which he is the vice president and public relations director. The foundation is dedicated to continuing Peyton’s legacy by spreading love, giving back to local communities and encouraging others to pass kindness along to people they interact with throughout their day.
